The project strengthened the University <\/strong>of Cape Coast, Accra Technical University and the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana in developing practical ICT courses, job placement and entrepreneurship training, thus bringing young professionals \u2013 especially women \u2013 into skilled jobs and increasing the competitiveness of Ghanaian companies. <\/p>\n\n

Starting situation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ghana has long been considered a pioneer in the African telecommunications market: As early as 2011, almost every person owned a mobile phone. Nevertheless, digital applications remain underdeveloped in many companies and in everyday life because there is a lack of reliable Internet access, suitable end devices and, above all, qualified specialist personnel. The labour market is characterised by informal employment; more than half of the working population works without a contract or social security. Young women in particular encounter closed doors when it comes to well-paid ICT positions. At the same time, the government recognizes digitization as a key growth driver and wants to support companies in their digital transformation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goal<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The University of Cape Coast, the Accra Technical University and, if necessary, other educational and economic institutions are sustainably qualified to carry out practice-oriented ICT qualification programmes as well as accompanying measures to promote employment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
