The project strengthened practice-oriented dual training in tourism and the digital economy and the integration of young people into the labour market. At the same time, the visibility of dual education has been increased through communication and network building.
Starting situation
After the Corona pandemic, youth unemployment in Colombia reached over 25%. Young people, women and ethnic minorities were particularly affected. Despite these challenges, Antioquia is one of the strongest economic regions in the country: With a share of almost 15% of the national GDP and a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises, there is a high demand for qualified specialists – especially in IT, agriculture, infrastructure and the manufacturing industry. At the same time, there is a lack of tailor-made training opportunities, especially for young people.
Goal
The project partners (Medellín Chamber of Commerce & National Training Service) are able to increase the employability of young people in selected professions in the tourism and digital economy sectors in the province of Antioquia.
RESULTS
- 10 dual training programmes were developed and introduced in accordance with the needs of the IT industry, food and beverage industry, gastronomy, electrical engineering and trade
- 39 companies have successfully implemented dual vocational education and training in their companies.
- 273 young people have taken part in dual courses or completed training, 78 of whom have been taken on or are in another employment.
- 349 project and cooperation partners from chambers of commerce, companies and educational institutions have been trained in the implementation of dual education, 88 of whom have qualified as trainers and are now training young people.
